Blue waffles recipe
It is of course already a party to eat waffles. But if your waffles are also homemade and blue in color, it's absolutely super. In this recipe you will learn how to make blue waffles using natural dyes.
Ingredients for 4-6 blue waffles
- 250 grams of flour
- 2½ tsp baking powder
- 2 egg yolks
- 30 g sugar (more if desired)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp salt
- 250 ml buttermilk
- 50 grams of butter
- 2 egg whites
- 3 teaspoons of blue spirulina from Fenitas
Other supplies
- butter or baking spray, for greasing
- icing sugar, for dusting
- 50 gr blueberries
- 50 gr blackberries freezer
- 200 ml whipped cream (possibly with a pinch of cinnamon)
Preparation:
Put the baking powder, flour, egg yolks, vanilla extract, sugar, salt and buttermilk in a bowl. Beat this to a smooth batter. Melt the butter and mix it into the batter. Get another bowl, which is fat free, and beat the egg whites to soft peaks. Note: don't beat them too far.
Gently fold the whipped egg white into the batter. Then stir 3 teaspoons of blue spirulina through the batter. Stir well. After this you have a blue batter.
Heat the waffle iron and grease it with butter or baking spray. Spoon the waffle batter into the waffle iron. Let the waffles bake for about 4 minutes. Then garnish them with blueberries, blackberries, icing sugar and whipped cream.
